Getting to know Carlos Castillo

Hi! My name is Carlos Castillo, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I’d like to share a little about myself so you can decide if I’m someone you’d feel comfortable working with. For over a decade, I have helped people transition through some of the most difficult stages of their lives. As you might have guessed, I specialize in life transitions and adjustment stress. I have worked with ex-convicts, drug users, veterans, retirees, immigrants, college graduates, as well as terminally and chronically ill populations. While this may seem like a broad range, all of these individuals face challenging life transitions that can feel overwhelming. Some benefits you can gain from counseling include developing healthy coping skills, building healthy relationships, achieving personal goals, reducing or eliminating unwanted habits, and overcoming traumatic experiences. I take a very person-centered approach using motivational interviewing; however, I also draw from cognitive-behavioral, existentialist, psychoanalytical, and spiritualistic interventions tailored to your unique needs. I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M International University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support you effectively. Our first session will be spent getting to know each other and creating a treatment plan. I work to ensure my clients receive exactly what they need from counseling. Together, we will carefully identify your goals and outline the steps to achieve them. After all, the more clearly you define a goal, the more likely you are to follow through. A long time ago, my mentor taught me that our ears are the greatest gift we can offer someone. To be truly present with someone—in their suffering and happiness—can be life-changing. I hope you will allow me the opportunity to share this gift with you. I look forward to meeting you soon! Thank you for your time.

I didn't know if my new tharapist would be able to understand my issues and give sound advice that didn't contradict my situation, only making it worse. Carlos however could understand me even though my situation was weird, and he has given me sound advice and proven a great therapist.
