Carly Wielstein, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Carly! My goal is to help guide and support individuals on their journey towards self-discovery and personal growth. I believe that psychotherapy can be a powerful tool in helping individuals overcome obstacles and regain a sense of wholeness and well-being. Through deep exploration of behaviors, feelings, and thoughts, we can work to uncover the root of suffering and develop strategies for positive change. For those who have suffered traumatic experiences on the planet, it is often not enough to simply “talk about what happened”. It is my clinical opinion that often we are seeking a deeper answer to questions such as: how have these experiences shaped me, how have I been emotionally and cognitively impacted, and how can I learn, heal, and grow from the painful things that might have shaped me? My approach In my work, I take a unique approach blending empirically-based, relevant, and current neuroscience with depth psychology so as to better understand the impact of trauma on the brain-body and our daily functioning. My focus As a therapist I believe that this feelings of "stuckness" can often be the very place where the growth and change can begin to occur; I work with individuals ready (positions of readiness may vary for each person) to begin, with curiosity, to explore and strategize ways to move through old patterns, thoughts, and feelings. My communication style In my practice, I emphasise clear, open communication to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment. I practice active listening and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences with you as an empathetic partner. My position as a clinician is that of a collaborative guide to your life story. My journey to mental healthcare I graduated from California State University, Fullerton, with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre and pursued a career as a dancer/singer/actress for over a decade. I then attended The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where I graduated with an M.A.
