Psychotherapist
WA
Hi, I’m Caroline Ciesko, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) in Washington. I support adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in relationship patterns, navigating grief or major life transitions, or carrying “old stress” that keeps showing up in the present. Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside but feel exhausted inside — often from people-pleasing, overthinking, or trying to hold everything together. My approach is trauma-informed and attachment-based, which means we’ll look at the roots of what you’re experiencing with compassion and without judgment. I also integrate practical, evidence-based tools so you can feel more grounded and supported in daily life. When it’s a good fit, I incorporate EMDR to help reduce reactivity and shift patterns that feel stuck. Therapy with me is collaborative, warm, and paced to your comfort level. My goal is to help you feel steadier, more connected to yourself, and more confident in how you navigate relationships and life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect a supportive, down-to-earth space where you don’t have to have the “right” words. I’ll help you slow things down, make sense of what’s happening inside, and build skills you can actually use between sessions. I’m gentle and compassionate, and I’ll also help you notice patterns and practice new ways of responding when you feel stuck. We’ll move at a pace that feels manageable. Some sessions may feel reflective and deeper; others may be more practical and skill-focused. Either way, we’ll keep your goals in mind and check in regularly about what’s working for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first session, we’ll focus on what brings you in, what you’ve already tried, and what you’d like to be different. We’ll talk about relevant history at a level that feels safe, identify current stressors and patterns, and clarify a few practical goals for therapy. If it’s helpful, we may use brief screening tools for anxiety, depression, and stress so we can track progress over time. In ongoing sessions, we’ll usually start with a quick check-in and decide together what feels most important that day. We may explore emotions and relationship patterns, work with the body’s stress response (grounding and regulation skills), practice communication tools, and build a plan for the week ahead. If EMDR is part of your care, we’ll spend time preparing with stabilization skills first, then move into processing at a pace that supports your nervous system and your sense of safety.
