Getting to know Carolyn Burke
Hi there, I'm Carolyn!
I have over 13 years of experience as a pastor and pastoral marriage preparation counselor. I hold a Master's in Counseling from Grand Canyon University and am a licensed marriage & family therapist in MA. I work with all ages in the family to help overcome their challenges.
My approach
I use Family Systems Therapy, Gottman, Feminist, and Bowen models for families. The first session will be an exploration of your reasons for beginning therapy and the goals you set. This will help us choose the most effective path. We will challenge your thoughts and explore your beliefs so we can get you feeling better and restore you to wholeness.
My focus
I work with clients who may be struggling with depression or trauma related to their relationships or family. We will collaborate to create a plan for addressing these issues in a way that helps you see your options with greater clarity and gain an alternate perspective that can help you choose who you want to become. Once my clients obtain awareness and turn it into action, they generally see improvement.
My communication style
I provide a space that exudes calm, safety, and peace. The process isn't always easy, and when times are heavy, feeling safe and comfortable helps return clients to the present with pleasant sensory experiences.
My journey to mental healthcare
My father was the victim of homicide when I was young. I know what trauma can do to a family, and I know the benefits of therapy. I always wanted to serve, and being a pastor and therapist is a wonderfully fulfilling way to do this.
