Getting to know Carolyn Comas

My therapeutic approach stems from empathy, compassion, validation, and of course, a little bit of humor. What makes working with me unique is that I encourage a collaborative approach to therapy. I incorporate evidence-based therapies but also want to hear your voice and lived experiences to help tailor our work together to meet your goals. I have over 10 years of experience, beginning my work in the substance abuse field. I've always had a strong passion for working with the eating disorder population, as I myself have struggled with this disorder. I have worked in residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care. I am a former board member of the Los Angeles IAEDP chapter and currently sit on the board of the ARFID Collaborative. I graduated from Adelphi University in New York with a Master's in Social Work. I have had trainings in Family Based Treatment, CBT-E, DBT, and bereavement training from Our House Los Angeles. Outside of my therapy practice, you can find me either at the ice rink or a concert. I was an ice skating coach for over ten years and have been figure skating since I was ten years old. In 2022, I returned to the sport as a competitive adult skater. I love music, especially punk and emo, and am proud to call myself an elder-emo.
