Casey Applegate-Aguilar, LPCC

Psychotherapist
NM
I focus on assisting clients with trauma, anxiety, maladaptive coping, and habit disorders to build new skill-sets toward greater holistic well-being. While I serve many types of clients with a variety of goals, my practice often focuses on clients who are struggling with anxiety and parenting challenges while navigating their own childhood trauma. Often, these clients also struggle with chronic pain, IBS, substance use, obsessive thoughts, and compulsive/habitual behavior. Because trauma lives in the body, I take a body-oriented approach. I specialize in clinical hypnosis, expressive arts, body-oriented psychotherapy, and other methods of guiding people to the subconscious to heal themselves. I am a PhD candidate in Mind-Body Medicine with a specialization in Integrative Mental Health at Saybrook University. My MS from New Mexico Highlands University is in Clinical/Counseling Psychology. I am a dually-licensed clinical and substance abuse counselor. I hold multiple certificates in clinical hypnosis and am a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Using body-oriented and imaginative approaches, I create space for clients to develop awareness, heal old wounds, and choose who they wish to be. I use gentle, empowering approaches such as expressive arts, clinical hypnosis, and body-oriented psychotherapy to support the client in uncovering their inner wisdom and step into their true Self.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Together we will develop your awareness, re-regulate your nervous system, heal old wounds, and learn new skills that empower you to be who you choose to be. I utilize the incredible power of the creative imagination for healing and wellness. My practices focus on mindfulness, somatic (body) awareness, and emotional and creative expression. I specialize in clinical hypnosis, expressive arts, body-oriented psychotherapy, and other methods of guiding people to the subconscious to heal trauma and uncover their true, unconditioned selves. Within this, I incorporate neuroscience, teaching clients how to regulate their nervous systems. You will find me a good match for you if you are curious about what it might be like to step outside the mind and into your body to discover your innate creative and intuitive healing nature.
