Catherine Marner, LCPC

Psychotherapist
MD
My name is Catherine Marner, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor based in Baltimore, Maryland, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School. I work with adults and have experience addressing a wide variety of mental health and social challenges, including managing stress, improving emotional regulation, navigating life transitions, cultural issues, relationships, creating and maintaining a healthy work/life balance, anxiety, depression, and more. My approach to therapy is tailored to each client's specific needs. I consider myself a Person-Centered and Strengths-Based therapist, frequently incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a tool for awareness and skill-building. I believe every client is an expert on themselves and already possesses the internal resources they need. My role is to guide them toward their own answers and teach them how to put those internal tools to work. I have found that this approach works well with adults facing difficulties managing life transitions, creating balance, and maintaining healthy boundaries in relationships. These challenges often present as stress, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. I work with clients to build skills and confidence in their ability to meet and manage life’s challenges. My communication style is warm, empowering, and direct. I want my clients to feel comfortable discussing anything with me, knowing they will not be met with judgment. My journey to mental healthcare began as the “go-to” person in my friend groups for a non-judgmental listening ear, problem-solving help, or a pep talk. Growing up, I witnessed how being there for others in their time of need and having the right resources could truly change a person’s life.
