Getting to know Catherine McRae

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Master's in Counseling from San Diego State University, a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from California State University San Marcos, and a Master's in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University. I enjoy academics and deeply value the knowledge and opportunities for growth that education and research provide. My professional experience includes working with individuals facing severe mental health disorders, adolescents coping with various traumas, domestic violence survivors, those struggling with addiction, and families navigating parenting challenges. Regardless of the situation, I approach my work from a trauma-informed care perspective, creating an environment of understanding, compassion, and non-judgment. I often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, tailoring my approach to the specific needs of each client. I am also passionate about Attachment Theory and its profound benefits for children, as well as how these early attachments influence our future and the quality of our relationships. On a personal note, my proudest accomplishment is being a mother to my four children. I have been able to blend my career and love for them to help raise them into wonderful individuals I am extremely proud of. I am married and cherish sharing many common interests and activities with my husband. I love sports and value the time I spend relaxing with my family, embracing all that life has given me and all I have worked for.
