Hi there, I'm Catherine! Hello, I am Catherine Valencia, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). If you're ready for change, I’m here to help. Therapy can reduce trauma-related symptoms, PTSD, thinking errors, moods, anxiety, anger, and depression. You will learn to manage overwhelming emotions in healthier ways. I can help you redirect unhelpful thoughts, build self-esteem, improve self-confidence, and find your inner strength to become the person you were meant to be. My approach I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) through EMDRIA and specialize in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), certified Trauma-Focused CBT, and perinatal/postpartum mental health care and women's issues. My focus If you are experiencing recent trauma, major life changes, past childhood trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, or perinatal/postpartum anxiety and depression, and you're ready for change, I’m here to help. My communication style I emphasize positive unconditional regard, and we will explore what brought you to therapy. Together, we will set clear, specific goals to measure your progress. I may use various treatment types to support you. My journey to mental healthcare I have been a professional counselor since 2020. Before that, I was under supervision for 2 years and a Behavioral Case Manager for 8 years. Working alongside great therapists inspired me to pursue becoming an LPC. I earned my MEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University. I have been in the mental health field for about 14 years. My goals for you During initial sessions, we will explore your issues and complete assessments to create a plan. Most clients see gradual symptom improvement within several weeks of therapy.
