“From the get go there was a kindness about her that allowed me to feel comfortable seeing as this was my first time having to seek therapy. She was extremely helpful in assisting me with navigating my stress, anxiety, and depression that was brought about due to a very chaotic work environment. Her expertise and suggestions provided me with ways to redirect that anxiety and stress. She was very thorough when it came to analyzing the information I was giving her based on questions she had for me. I could not have asked for a better experience and felt that every session I had with Cathleen was beneficial. I am glad that I am in a much better situation right now which is a big part of why I am no longer needing sessions with Cathleen. I hope that I never have that level of anxiety and stress again, but if I do I feel confident that I would reach back out to Cathleen.”

Getting to know Cathleen Kimmel

Hi, my name is Cathleen Kimmel, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from St. Edward’s University. I work with adults and adolescents collaboratively to help them find happiness. My focus areas include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, low self-esteem, relationship issues, pregnancy/postpartum, grief, LGBTQ+ concerns, and other life adjustments. My approach I use a person-centered approach combined with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy to help clients meet their goals. I work collaboratively to ensure progress and that clients get what they need from therapy. My focus I enjoy working with adults and adolescents ready to make positive changes. My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, low self-esteem, relationship issues, pregnancy/postpartum, grief, LGBTQ+ concerns, and other difficult life adjustments. My communication style I set a non-judgmental and supportive tone early in therapy. I aim to understand my clients, explore reasons for their struggles, and work together to make positive changes. My journey to therapy With strong emotional intelligence, I naturally pick up on others’ emotional states and want to have honest conversations about their lives. I enjoy supporting people and helping create lasting change. My goals for you Clients create their own goals, and we focus on what they want. I may suggest areas based on observations, but clients choose the focus. My first session with you In the first session, I ask about current problems, their history, and family history. We then discuss a potential diagnosis, treatment goals, and treatment frequency.
