What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a collaborative, affirming, and grounded therapeutic relationship. I prioritize creating a space where you feel emotionally safe, respected, and genuinely understood. Therapy with me is not about fixing you or pushing you to be someone different. It’s about slowing down, getting curious, and developing a deeper understanding of who you are and how you move through the world. My approach is especially supportive for clients/couples/family with ADHD and ASD who are often highly self-aware but feel stuck when it comes to understanding their emotional responses in real time. Many of my clients know what they struggle with, but want help understanding why their body reacts the way it does and how emotions get activated so quickly. Together, we explore how your nervous system responds to stress, connection, overwhelm, and change, and we work toward building awareness that allows for choice rather than reactivity. I work from a neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed lens and integrate emotional awareness, body-based insight, and relational understanding into our work. Sessions often involve noticing patterns, naming emotions, understanding triggers, and gently connecting present-day reactions to past experiences, without judgment or pressure. I move at a pace that respects your nervous system and your lived experience. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start therapy with me. If you’re seeking clarity, deeper self-understanding, and a more compassionate relationship with yourself and others, we’ll work together to build that understanding in a way that feels authentic, empowering, and sustainable.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session with me is collaborative, flexible, and guided by your needs in the moment. We begin by checking in on how you’ve been feeling since our last session. What’s been challenging, what’s felt manageable, and what you’d like support with that day. There is no pressure to arrive with a clear agenda; part of our work is learning to notice what your mind and body are already holding. I work at your pace and prioritize building a strong therapeutic relationship, as research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic alliance is one of the strongest predictors of successful outcomes. That means we move slowly enough to feel safe, especially when exploring difficult emotions, past experiences, or patterns that have developed over time. If something feels overwhelming or unclear, we pause, reflect, and adjust together. Sessions often involve gentle exploration of emotional patterns, nervous system responses, and triggers. Especially for clients with ADHD or ASD who may experience emotions somatically before they can name them. We may notice physical cues (tension, shutdown, restlessness), explore what activated them, and connect those responses to past or present experiences. This process helps build awareness, emotional regulation, and self-trust. Sessions are not about being “productive” in a traditional sense. We process deepening understanding, strengthening connection to yourself, and building skills that feel meaningful and sustainable. Over time, this work supports greater emotional clarity, improved relationships, and a stronger sense of agency in your life.
