Charity Miller, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Charity! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #101011 with a primary focus on BIPOC folks of all genders and those in the LGBTQIA+ community. As a transgender and queer therapist, I understand the need for someone who identifies similarly and has a deeper understanding of the issues marginalized communities face. My focus My areas of clinical focus are anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ and transgender issues. My areas of specialty are attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, men's issues, women's issues, parenting, trauma, panic disorder, identity, family, and cultural issues. My approach My approach to therapy is meeting the client where they are and forming a healthy and safe working relationship. I believe therapy is not a "one size fits all" and will utilize different techniques and therapeutic modalities depending on my client's needs. The modalities I enjoy using are DBT, CBT, EMDR, psychodynamic, and attachment theory. My communication style I am a very honest, open, and warm communicator. I believe that humor heals and will use it appropriately. I also believe in being a real person and not a sanitized version of a person. My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist because a therapist saved my life. I want to continue to provide a safe space for marginalized people to be heard, validated, supported, and respected. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is to collaborate with the client. My focus is on making sure you meet your desired outcomes for therapy. Our first session The first session with me is spent getting to know you as a whole person, and not just what you're bringing into therapy. I strive to build rapport from the very first session until completion of services. I do my best to create a safe and warm environment for any and all of my clients.
