Chava Raymes, LMFT

Psychotherapist
TX
My name is Chava Raymes, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas and South Carolina. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. I have been practicing for over 3 years, primarily working with older adults and individuals dealing with substance abuse. My approach I use a collaborative, person-centered approach grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I see every client as the expert on their life, while I am an expert on therapy. By bringing our expertise together, we can work toward developing a fulfilling life. That work often involves implementing coping skills and mindfulness practices weekly. My focus I am comfortable working with a broad range of clients and have experience supporting those with depression, anxiety, bipolar I and II, and various personality disorders. I am particularly suited to working with older adults and those navigating grief and significant life changes. My communication style When I was finishing my internships in grad school, I asked for feedback on sessions, and a client told me, “you should call your client’s dude more.” That feedback has shaped my communication style, and I’ve found that bringing my genuine self to sessions builds a strong therapeutic alliance. So, I will be quirky, kind, and humorous. I am also slow to speak; I don’t believe in rushing to fill silence because therapy is a time to slow down, feel, and reflect. My journey to mental healthcare I believe life is beautiful and worth living—and more than that, life is worth experiencing as beautiful and worth living (and that it is possible to experience it this way). I’m in this profession to continue witnessing people change and find fulfilling lives. My goals for you Goal setting is a collaborative process. I talk with my clients about what they want to achieve through therapy and how I can support them as their clinician.
