Healing is not a destination — it is a process, and you do not have to walk it alone. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and EMDR therapist, under the supervision of Dr. Misti Sparks, #201137, and provide evidence-based, relationally focused care to individuals, couples, families, and children and adolescents navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and relational distress. I am currently in my third year of a doctoral program in Marriage and Family Therapy, where my scholarship focuses on advancing the field's clinical knowledge base. In April 2026, I presented original research at the Texas Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (TAMFT) Annual Conference — Growing Our Roots, reflecting my commitment to contributing to the broader MFT community and to evidence-informed practice. In 2023, I co-authored Chapter 5, "Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy," in Marriage and Family Therapy: A Practice-Oriented Approach (3rd Edition), with Dr. Linda Metcalf, Ph.D. My clinical work is grounded in a deep respect for the complexity of human systems — the families we come from, the relationships we build, and the ways our past experiences shape our present lives. I believe that lasting change happens not just within the individual, but within the relational contexts that surround them.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I draw from a rich foundation of rigorously researched and clinically proven therapeutic models, having trained under and studied with some of the leading master therapists who founded or helped advance these approaches: Bowen Family Systems Theory — I use intergenerational and systemic thinking to help clients understand how family-of-origin patterns influence current relationships, emotional functioning, and identity. Gottman Method Couples Therapy — Informed by decades of research on what makes relationships succeed or fail, I help couples build trust, repair ruptures, and cultivate lasting connections. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) — As a trained EMDR therapist under clinical supervision, I use this powerful, evidence-based modality to help clients process and integrate traumatic memories so they no longer drive present-day distress. I also apply principles from Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy, an area in which I have contributed scholarly work as a co-author of Chapter 5, "Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy," in Marriage and Family Therapy: A Practice-Oriented Approach (3rd Edition, Dr. Linda Metcalf, Ph.D., 2023). What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe therapy works best when it is both scientifically grounded and deeply human. The models I use are not simply techniques — they represent decades of research, clinical wisdom, and a profound commitment to understanding how people heal in relationships. I bring that same commitment to every client I work with. If you are ready to take the next step, I welcome you to reach out. Together, we can begin growing your roots.
