Chelsea Lahey, LPC Associate

Psychotherapist
TX
I’m Chelsea Reed-Lahey, M.A., LPC-Associate, Supervised by Erin Alexander, LPC-S. I provide telehealth therapy for adults and couples across Texas through Shadow and Light Wellness. My work focuses on grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship stress, and major life transitions. I believe therapy should feel honest, grounded, and useful. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck in survival mode, or exhausted from trying to keep everything together. I help clients better understand their patterns, regulate their nervous system, communicate more clearly, and build practical tools for moving through painful or complicated seasons of life. With couples, I support partners in improving communication, rebuilding trust, addressing conflict, and learning how to repair instead of repeating the same cycle. My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and direct while still leaving room for humor, honesty, and real life. I offer private-pay telehealth sessions for Texas residents, including evening and weekend availability.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that therapy with me is collaborative, honest, and practical. I do not believe therapy has to feel cold, overly clinical, or like you are being analyzed from across the room. My goal is to create a space where you can be direct about what is actually happening, without feeling judged or rushed. I work well with clients who are overwhelmed, grieving, anxious, stuck in old patterns, navigating relationship stress, or trying to function through a major life transition. We will talk about what hurts, but we will also look at what helps. That may include nervous system regulation, communication skills, boundaries, grief work, trauma-informed coping tools, and identifying patterns that are keeping you stuck. I am direct, compassionate, and grounded. I will not pretend life is simple, but I will help you sort through it with more clarity, language, and support. Therapy with me is not about becoming a perfect version of yourself. It is about becoming more honest, more connected, and more able to move through the life you are actually living.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The process usually starts with getting clear on what brings you to therapy now, what feels hardest, and what you want support with. In the first session, we will review your history, current stressors, symptoms, relationships, coping patterns, and goals for therapy. From there, we will build a treatment plan that fits your actual life. Sessions may include processing grief or trauma, identifying patterns, learning regulation skills, improving communication, setting boundaries, and building more effective ways to respond when life feels overwhelming. I do not use a one-size-fits-all approach. Some sessions may feel reflective and emotional. Others may be more practical and skills-based. We will check in regularly about what is helping, what needs to shift, and how therapy can continue supporting your goals. For couples, the process includes understanding the relationship history, current conflict cycle, communication patterns, trust concerns, and each partner’s goals. The focus is on slowing down the cycle, improving repair, and helping both partners communicate with more clarity and accountability.
