"Hello, I'm Cherie. With over 20 years of experience in education and mental health, I have dedicated my career to supporting students and families through a wide range of academic and mental health challenges. My journey began with over 12 years as a teacher, which then evolved into a role as a school-based mental health clinician. This dual background allows me to draw on my extensive experience in both education and counseling to provide comprehensive support to families navigating complex issues. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Supervisor in the state of Ohio, as well as a Registered Play Therapist and Supervisor through the Association for Play Therapy. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Secondary Education, and a Master of Education degree in School Counseling and Professional Counseling from Ohio University. My specialties include working with individuals experiencing ADHD, PTSD, stress, suicidal ideation and self-harming behaviors, trauma, children's mental and behavioral health, bipolar disorder, and adolescent and teen mental and behavioral health. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy, where understanding the unique needs and strengths of each client is paramount. My goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives. In addition to my clinical work, I am passionate about giving back to the global community. I founded Foothold International, a nonprofit organization that serves communities in Kenya, East Africa. Through this organization, we provide clean water, sanitation, hygiene, and mental health services to vulnerable families, reflecting my commitment to holistic well-being and social responsibility. When you work with me, you can expect a compassionate and collaborative approach.
