Christie Barboza, LICSW

Psychotherapist
MA
Hi I earned my Masters Degree in Social Work from Bridgewater State School of Social Work in 2018, and earned my license to practice independently in 2020. It had always been my goal to work as a psychotherapist, and in early 2021 I left my job as a clinical social worker at McLean Hospital to begin this journey. Since then, I have felt as though I found my calling. During our first session we will talk about what has brought you into therapy, and what your goals might be moving forward. I understand that therapy can be a little intimidating, especially if you have never done therapy before, and I strive to make clients feel as comfortable as possible. My approach is very down to earth, and I enjoy using humor to make clients feel at ease. I will choose the approach and methods that work well with whatever it is that my client's are seeking therapy for. Therapy should not be one size fits all, and my methods and skills I teach will vary based on the client's presentation. I have worked in a variety of backgrounds including elementary schools, dementia units at a nursing home, crisis stabilization units for kids and teens, the courthouse, and inpatient psychiatric hospitals. Through this experience I have found the populations that I truly work best with. These populations include those struggling with trauma, those struggling with anxiety, those struggling with OCD, first responders, other mental health and healthcare professionals, parents-whether it be post partum mothers or parents struggling with older children who may be behavioral, and individuals who have family members that have been impacted by substance use.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
