Getting to know Christine Shield

Hi there, I'm Christine! My name is Christine Shield, LCSW. I use CBT, gradual exposure, and some DBT (with or without integrated Biblical or spiritual approaches) to support women ages 18-62. I am caring and non-judgmental, enthusiastic about helping women with PTSD, anxiety/panic disorders, depression, and other issues. I actively collaborate with clients, regardless of faith, and incorporate spirituality and holistic practices when requested. My approach In addition to CBT, Exposure Therapy (gradual exposure for anxiety disorders), DBT, and Biblical approaches, I also provide Psychodynamic and Art therapy. I offer an active, structured, yet flexible approach to quickly build coping tools that reduce symptoms. With PTSD and panic symptoms, we create an individualized plan tailored to your needs, addressing emotions, thoughts, behavior, and physical responses to reminders of traumatic events. My focus My specialties include women, anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, panic attacks, conflict resolution, relationship issues, parenting skills, Biblical counseling, spiritual growth, balancing career and personal life, life and career coaching, and psychoeducation. I use gradual exposure to help traumatic memories become filed correctly, reducing symptoms and improving well-being and functioning. My communication style I have a warm, engaging therapy style, a calm demeanor, and a non-judgmental approach. I actively listen and validate concerns while gently offering alternative ways to approach thoughts, feelings, and behavior. I follow up each session with a summary of what we worked on. My journey to mental healthcare I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in fine art. I stumbled upon a job in a psychiatric hospital and loved it. This inspired me to pursue a Master's in Social Work at California State University, Long Beach.
