Hi there! My name is Chris Kauffman. I received my Master’s in Social Work from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2012 and have spent the majority of the last 10 years working with foster youth. I became an LCSW in 2019 and have experience providing individual and family counseling, clinical case management, and program development. My favorite part of being a social worker is that I get an opportunity to hear people's stories and help individuals find ways to strive towards a better life. What can I help you with? My approach I approach psychotherapy from an insight-oriented frame and try to help you recognize whether there are any maladaptive patterns getting in the way of you achieving the life you want. I have been told that my superpower is asking lots of thought-provoking questions, and if we were to work together, I hope to use this skill to help you avoid past pitfalls and develop new strategies for greater success. My focus I am open to working with individuals of all populations, but I have the most experience with teenagers and young adults. My clinical experience has mainly been working with individuals with anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, and other mild or moderate mood disorders. My communication style I would describe myself as having a very calm demeanor with an inquisitive approach. Do you prefer someone to just vent to, or someone who can be more directive with solutions? I am totally open to exploring your preferences during our first session and tailoring my approach to best support you!
