Getting to know Christy Austin

"Hello, I'm Christy, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges. My approach to therapy is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Christian Counseling, where I focus on the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of my clients to promote optimal living. I believe in utilizing a variety of creative and traditional techniques to meet each client's unique needs. Together, we will identify your goals and create a strategic action plan to overcome any barriers, ensuring your path to success is clear and achievable. I specialize in working with young adults and women, particularly those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and conflicts of faith. Additionally, I enjoy supporting professionals who are developing leadership skills. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, and work towards a healthier, more fulfilling life. I earned my Master's Degree in Counseling from Spring Arbor University and completed an internship at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Child Psychiatry PHP and outpatient units. My professional journey has taken me through various settings, including private practice, inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. Since beginning my career in 2001, I've had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, conducting both group and individual therapy. I've also volunteered to facilitate group counseling for domestic violence victims and led several Christian-based CBT groups for emotional healing in the community. Originally from Michigan, I've lived in six different states and currently call Ohio home. In my free time, I enjoy reading, nature walks, visiting coffee shops, sharing laughter with friends, and spending time at the beach.
