Getting to know Christy Kneeland

Hi there, I'm Christy! Hi! I'm Christy Webster, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. I have worked in various capacities in mental health care since 2007. I enjoy teaming up with my clients to help them define their issues of concern and identify what they want to achieve during counseling. I help clients work toward their personal goals using proven approaches based on the person's needs. My approach My primary theoretical approach is person-centered therapy. Many of my clients have done well by directing their own treatment, and many have told me they are looking for an objective person who will help them process the issues on their mind by listening and providing supportive feedback. I am also practiced in using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) strategies to help clients identify areas where they can challenge thoughts and perceptions that are not serving their needs and learn to redirect themselves toward more helpful perspectives. I have used trauma-focused CBT and emotion-focused therapy strategies to help clients navigate past trauma, and dialectical behavioral strategies to help clients develop coping skills for stressful situations. My focus I work with people with a variety of strengths and challenges, including relationship issues, life transitions, mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, behavioral problems, and substance abuse. I am experienced in working with adolescents, adults-including adults age 60+-individuals with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ community. My communication style I focus on helping clients wherever they are on a particular day. I keep the conversation open for topics the client chooses to address, but I make a point of checking in on certain topics if the client has a history of self-harm, suicidal or homicidal thoughts, substance abuse, or other high-risk issues that I feel should be monitored.
