Chrysanthemum Dawkins, LCSW

Psychotherapist
GA
Hi there, I'm Chrysanthemum! My name is Chrys Dawkins, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based on the Big Island in Hawaii, working with clients both in Hawaii and Georgia. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Boston University and a Bachelor's degree from The University of Arizona Global Campus. I work with adults and military veterans, specializing in anxiety, stress management, women's issues, setting boundaries, and parenting. My approach My approach to therapy is tailored to the unique needs of each client but can be described as direct, caring, friendly, and warm. I most frequently use a strengths-based approach combined with a person-centered approach to help clients identify and harness their unrecognized strengths. Together, we gain an understanding of their reality as we work to build a way forward. The modalities I use include Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Written Exposure Therapy (WET), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My focus I find that my approach and style are a good fit for adults who may feel overwhelmed by carrying their burdens alone, who feel ?stuck,? and who want to become their best selves. I like to guide clients in a non-directive way, helping them navigate life's difficulties, find strengths in their experiences, and improve their overall well-being. My communication style My communication style is informal, direct but warm, and free from judgment. My goal is to create a calming space where clients feel free to talk about anything without fear of judgment. My journey to mental healthcare I became a clinical social worker because I have always enjoyed helping people improve and become their best selves. I was impressed by the holistic approach social workers take and drawn to the connection between systems, environments, and overall well-being.
