Getting to know Colijia Feliz

Hi there, I'm Colijia! Hola, I am Colijia Feliz, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Visalia, CA (The Central Valley, just south of Fresno) and providing services statewide via telehealth. I am a woman of color, mixed race—half Black and half Mexican. My approach to therapy helps individuals understand how their past and traumas affect their present and decision-making, recognize their inner strengths, and see how these issues impact families, friends, and communities. My approach I tailor my approach to each client’s unique needs, as I believe there is no one-size-fits-all solution. I focus on Humanistic and Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Strength-Based Therapy. My focus I work with victims of discrimination, racial and social injustice, youth and adolescents, foster care, parents, depression, anxiety, stress, sexual abuse, human trafficking, childhood trauma and abuse, as well as family and couple issues. I have supported youth and students struggling with depression, self-identity, sexual orientation, and challenges related to self and family acceptance. My communication style I create a calm environment with an understanding, compassionate, and empathetic tone. Working with me feels like having someone who truly understands, who has faced similar challenges, and who has navigated a difficult past. My journey to therapy I have always been the family member and friend people turn to when things go wrong. I decided to work for Child Welfare Services and learned about a program that helped me earn my Master’s in Social Work at California State University, Fresno, at no cost. During this time, I witnessed firsthand the struggles of people dealing with childhood and past trauma. I wanted to do more than just be their social worker. After earning my MSW, I felt empowered to help youth and families even more deeply through therapy and began accumulating hours to become a Clinical Therapist.
