Getting to know Colin Bergeson

About Colin Bergeson, LCSW, Owner of Navigating Wellness Therapy PLLC Hi, I'm Colin Bergeson, and I’m passionate about supporting individuals and families through life’s toughest challenges. I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from East Carolina University, which laid the foundation for my work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in crisis intervention. I focus on helping adolescents and adults navigate mental health struggles, especially when those challenges affect school, work, and relationships. My journey as a therapist has been shaped by a deep commitment to meeting people where they are. After years of working directly with adolescents and their families in schools and homes, I transitioned to leading a mobile response team. This experience taught me the power of timely, compassionate support during moments of crisis. In 2022, I took a big leap and opened Navigating Wellness Therapy, a private practice where I create a space for healing, growth, and change. My approach is rooted in understanding each person’s unique story and working collaboratively to find solutions that feel right for you. Whether you're facing everyday stress or more significant mental health challenges, I’m here to support you as you work toward the balance and well-being you deserve. When I’m not working with clients, you’ll likely find me outdoors—fishing, hiking, or playing disc golf. Nature has always been my personal refuge, offering a sense of peace that helps me stay grounded. I believe in the power of both nature and therapy to help us reset and find clarity in our lives. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you, helping you navigate the complexities of life and find your path toward greater wellness and peace.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our sessions together, you can expect a genuine, collaborative space where you are free to show up as your authentic self—no masks, no pretenses. My approach is rooted in creating a safe and supportive environment where your voice is truly heard. I believe that each person’s journey is unique, so I don’t rely on a “one-size-fits-all” method. Instead, I integrate a variety of therapeutic tools—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, and Person-Centered Therapy—tailored specifically to your needs and goals. Mental health is deeply personal, and I’m here to walk alongside you without judgment, providing the understanding and guidance you deserve. Whether we're meeting virtually or in person, our work together will always be grounded in respect, empathy, and a commitment to your well-being. I invite you to bring all of who you are into our sessions, knowing that you're in a space where you can grow, explore, and heal at your own pace.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you begin therapy with me, we'll start with an initial assessment to get a sense of your mental health history and the things that are most important for you to address. From there, our sessions will evolve based on what you need in that moment. I’m here to listen and support you through whatever you're going through, and I believe therapy should feel more like a conversation than a series of questions and answers. I know that mental health can feel overwhelming and even intimidating at times, and my goal is to make our time together as comfortable and relaxed as possible. I don't want you to feel pressured or judged—this is a space where you can be your authentic self. Talk therapy can be tough, but I want to create an environment where you don't dread coming to see me. Instead, I want you to feel like you're taking steps towards understanding yourself better, working through challenges at your own pace, and feeling supported the entire way. You drive the direction of our sessions. I’ll always meet you where you are, with the flexibility to explore whatever feels most helpful to you. I believe in a compassionate and client-centered approach where your needs guide the conversation, and I’m here to offer support in whatever form feels most comfortable for you. Let’s create a space where it’s okay to feel vulnerable, but also where you feel empowered to grow, heal, and embrace new possibilities.
