Cora Taylor, LMFT

Cora Taylor, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I'm a licensed psychotherapist (Lic. #86950) with a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University, and I've been working clinically since 2015. I am a structured, yet flexible, therapist who is warm, supportive, and encouraging. My approach I generally use two approaches that I have found complement each other nicely. The first is David Burns' TEAM-CBT, which focuses mostly on the way we think. The second approach I use is DBT, which focuses more on tolerating and effectively managing how we feel. My focus I work with adult clients struggling with anxiety, stress, perfectionism, and depression. I help them better understand their thoughts and feelings. From there, I teach them how to change distorted thinking as well as better regulate their emotions. My communication style People describe me as warm, supportive, and encouraging. I view our relationship as collaborative, so I enjoy asking questions and exploring alternative ideas for you to consider. I provide structure, but I also trust that you know what you need and generally follow your lead. I ask for frequent feedback on what is, or is not, working for you in session. I believe these conversations are extremely important for effective treatment and help keep things collaborative rather than me making assumptions about how things are going. My goals for you Goal setting is important because I want you to get the outcomes you're looking for. I will ask you about what your life would look like if you achieve the outcomes you're hoping for.
