“So far my sessions with Courtney have started to peel back years of walls being up and deep diving into why I think and feel a certain way when a triggering scenario arises. Our conversations have some humor and lightheartedness sprinkled into moments, while still staying on track to address any hurdles when it comes to social life, work or family relationships.”

Getting to know Courtney Sonntag

Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or burned out? As a therapist, I will listen to your story and work with you to improve your well-being. Talking through the issues can help organize your thoughts. The therapeutic relationship is the most important tool we have – building trust, a sense of safety, open communication, and humor – and this can help build on existing tools, skills, and supports you have. I use an eclectic group of therapeutic systems approaches to help you create more meaning in your life, improve the way you see yourself, and control some of those racing thoughts you may be experiencing. I enjoy providing therapy for adolescents (13+), adults, couples, and families on issues such as depression, anxiety, navigating transitional periods of life, and relationship problems. I offer a safe space to explore what’s wrong and what we can do about it. Changing the way we view ourselves and the world around us can be a difficult journey, and I am committed to helping you every step of the way. I hold a Master’s degree in Family Sciences from the University of Kentucky and earned my Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

We'll start by discussing where you're at in your life. Where do you live, how do you spend your days? We'll talk about what brings you joy, as well as what doesn't. Where are you stuck? We're going to dissect some of your thoughts, feelings, and patterns to understand why they're there. This will make it easier to find out where the change needs to happen, and how we can get it started.

In-network insurances

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Courtney has been amazing at providing insight and mediation for us. We immediately felt comfortable around her and she's been great at helping us navigate this difficult phase of our marriage. We highly recommend her!
Courtney is great. She listens and ask really engaging questions to better understand whatever topic we are discussing and she really focuses on what you are saying to her. She gives positive feedback and kind of coaches you to look at a situation in different ways to get another point of view.
