Getting to know Courtney Stevens

Are you or your child having concerns about gender or sexuality identities? Is your child struggling to make friends in school? How about having difficulty dealing with life changes, such as divorce/separation, moving, death, or loss? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, this is the place for you. My name is Dr. Shaqueal Stevens, LCSW-C, and I am pleased to guide you and/or your child in the therapeutic process. I hold a Doctor of Social Work from Capella University and bring over 9 years of experience working directly with youth and young adults. I believe that no matter where we are in life regarding our past trauma or challenges, we can always work toward being our best selves. We are our greatest projects, and we owe it to ourselves to commit to our growth and success. Here, at Project: Committed to Me, I help you do just that. I specialize in treating children and adolescents (ages 7-22) for various diagnoses and troubling areas, including LGBTQ+ identities, ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma, social skills, self-esteem, and more. I empower clients to be the director of our sessions. Through trauma-informed care, I provide a non-judgmental space and a nurturing, safe, and comfortable environment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Whether my client is having difficulty in primary school or as a young adult, my approach towards the client is tailored to meet specific needs. Each session involves the client checking in with self and participating in an activity that leads towards goal mastery. While learning new concepts and strategies, clients will be embraced with compassion and grace and encouraged to apply what is learned to life outside of therapy.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
