Getting to know Cristina Lázaro
I don’t believe in change; I believe in transformation. I can help you increase happiness, emphasize resilience, and foster assertiveness in your life. If you are willing to work on your psychological betterment, I work with clients who are serious and committed to improving their emotional and mental health. Through research, application of theory, and knowledge of clinical skills, I aim to provide the best service to my clients in their journey of healing and transformation.
I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I moved to the United States when I was 16 looking for better opportunities, especially in my education. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in biology from Appalachian State University in 2016. Then, in 2019, I earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University. I have experience working in private practice and community-based outpatient facilities providing therapy services.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I am genuine and authentic, but I will also challenge you when you need to be. I will ask what your needs are from the beginning- whether you want a processing space or to learn specific skills, I can do both!

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
