Cristine Ruiz, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Cristine! I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I work with thoughtful, self-aware adults who may understand their patterns intellectually but still feel stuck in them. My work combines warmth, curiosity, and depth to help clients better understand themselves, their relationships, and any barriers to meaningful change. My focus I especially enjoy working with adults who are introspective and capable but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected despite knowing themselves well. I support clients navigating anxiety, relationships, family dynamics, trauma, grief, perfectionism, and burnout. I also work with families who are trying to improve relationship and communication. My approach My approach is relational, CBT, DBT, IFS, EMDR, and trauma-informed. I look beyond symptoms to understand the experiences, relationships, beliefs, and protective patterns underneath them. Therapy with me is collaborative and individualized; we may explore attachment, family dynamics, defenses, trauma, perfectionism, or relationship patterns. My communication style My style is warm, thoughtful, curious, and direct. I aim to create an environment where you can be honest without feeling judged, while also being willing to gently challenge patterns when doing so may help you grow. I don't believe therapy should be about telling you what to do; I want us to understand your experience together. My journey to mental healthcare My path to becoming a therapist grew from a longstanding interest in people, relationships, and the ways our experiences shape who we become. My clinical experience has included working with trauma, foster care, substance use, depression, anxiety, and complex life transitions. I continue to deepen my training in various modalities. My goals for you We identify what you want to be different and explore both the external and internal factors that may be keeping you stuck. Goals may evolve as we gain a deeper understanding of what you need.
