What should a new client know about working with you?

One of the most important things I'd want you to know is that you don't have to come into therapy with everything figured out. Some people arrive knowing exactly what they want to talk about, while others just know something doesn't feel quite right anymore. Both are okay, and we'll start wherever you are. I like to take the time to really get to know you before jumping into solutions. We'll talk about what's been happening in your life, what feels most important right now, and what you're hoping will feel different over time. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling listened to, supported, and a little more hopeful than when you walked in.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is really just a conversation. We'll spend time getting to know one another, talking about what's brought you to therapy, and exploring what you're hoping to get out of our time together. There's no expectation that you have to share everything at once. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. From there, we'll take things one conversation at a time. Some weeks you may need space to process what's been weighing on you, while other weeks we may focus on finding practical ways to help you manage stress, anxiety, grief, or other challenges you're facing. We'll continue checking in together and adjust as your needs change, so our work continues to feel helpful and relevant to where you are. I draw from approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and strengths-based therapy, but what matters most is finding what works best for you. Therapy isn't about following a script—it's about finding an approach that feels supportive for the person sitting across from me.
