Getting to know Cynthia Harris-Maddox

Hello, I am Cynthia Harris-Maddox, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor passionate about supporting clients facing challenges such as stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, depression, and coping with life changes. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps toward change. I am here to support and empower you on that journey. My approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Focused Therapy to assist clients in their overall journey to emotional wellness. I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology from Bethune Cookman College and obtained my master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I love counseling and seeing clients achieve their goals of becoming emotionally healthy. My greatest skill is being an active listener and supporter. Clients often say they leave feeling encouraged, informed, and equipped with effective strategies and tools to take charge of their mental health. I have a way with teens, who describe me as easy to get along with and genuinely caring. It has always been my passion to be an agent of change and serve my community. This mindset inspired me to pursue a career as a therapist, fueled by my desire to help people achieve emotional wholeness. I like to include my clients in setting attainable goals that are simple enough for them to monitor and meet outside of sessions. My eclectic approach helps clients feel empowered and motivated to achieve their goals and reward themselves for a job well done.
