Getting to know Dan Fox

The first half of my career was spent in two hospitals providing various services to inpatient and outpatient populations, working on medical, surgical, ICU, burn, and specialty services, as well as inpatient physical rehabilitation, substance abuse, and psychiatric units. The second half has included counseling in health clinics, in-home settings, primary and secondary schools, and with incarcerated populations. A unique experience that has been quite helpful in understanding controlling environments stems from my involvement in a religious cult as a young adult. The mind-controlling environment I experienced is structurally similar to those found in domestic violence, kidnapping, prisoner of war situations, and other hyper-controlling milieus. This has afforded me a unique skill set to treat individuals affected by such circumstances. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Iowa, which has further equipped me to provide compassionate and effective care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The client will have realistic goals and tools to effect the change they desire. Client focus will switch from useless to useful thoughts that will be attained in part from learning a communication strategy that focuses on behavior, thought, and feeling. I desire for my clients what I desire for myself; to entertain useful thoughts and to behave in ways that are beneficial for myself and for others.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
