Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm D'Andra! Hello, my name is D'Andra Nelson. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. I am also a U.S. Navy veteran, and I believe therapy is a tool people can use to heal and show up in their world from a space of wellness and self-actualization. My approach I use modalities such as psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy to assist with building healthier relationships with self and others. I believe true healing begins within oneself, then spills into everything around us. Everyone can operate in wellness and improve their overall quality of life. My focus With more than 9 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and veterans, I primarily support individuals who have experienced anxiety, depression, PTSD, intergenerational trauma, and severe mood disturbances. My communication style I believe it is important to provide a safe space for clients to be heard, seen, valued, and challenged in a way that moves them toward thriving in every aspect of life. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to major in Psychology after working for a nonprofit that provided case management and after-school care to at-risk youth in South Central Los Angeles. Witnessing the high need among inner-city youth inspired me to transition to working with victims of domestic violence and their children, which further confirmed that this field is directly connected to my purpose. I enjoy supporting individuals as they navigate life transitions. My goals for you I encourage clients to share their personal goals for therapy and include them in developing the plan to accomplish those goals.
