Getting to know D'angelo Taylor

I’m D’Angelo Taylor, LPC, founder of Soundtrack to Life LLC, with offices in Washington, DC and Charlotte, NC. I specialize in helping teens and adults overcome anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life transitions through a warm, culturally responsive approach. My work blends person-centered and cognitive-behavioral techniques with creative expression to build resilience, confidence, and healthy coping skills. With over a decade of experience, I’m dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space where clients can explore challenges, discover strengths, and move toward a more fulfilling life. Whether in person or via telehealth, I aim to meet each client where they are and walk alongside them in their growth journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is collaborative, compassionate, and goal-oriented. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a conversation in a safe, judgment-free space. I tailor each session to your unique needs, blending practical strategies with emotional support to help you make real, sustainable progress. You can expect me to listen actively, challenge you when needed, and provide tools you can use between sessions. I work from a culturally responsive perspective, respecting and incorporating your values, identity, and lived experiences into the therapeutic process. Whether we meet in person or virtually, my goal is to help you feel understood, supported, and empowered.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know you, your goals, and what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, strengths, and challenges, and together we’ll identify the areas you’d like to work on. This session also allows you to get a sense of my style and decide if we’re a good fit. From there, I tailor each session to your needs, blending evidence-based approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and person-centered counseling with practical strategies you can use in daily life. We’ll review your progress regularly, adjust goals as needed, and celebrate your wins along the way. Sessions are conversational, collaborative, and always focused on helping you feel heard, supported, and empowered to make positive changes.
