What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy can feel like a mystery — and that's okay. There's no pressure to come in with the right words or the perfect explanation of what's going on. My job is to help us figure that out together, at whatever pace works best for your child. Sessions are child-led, which means your child gets to have a real say in how we spend our time. Sometimes that looks like playing a game. Sometimes it's drawing, talking, or just hanging out while trust gets built slowly. I won't rush that process. Getting to know your child — and earning their trust — is the most important part of the work. Families are always a part of the picture too, and I'll keep communication open, so you feel supported every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start by getting to know your child — not just what’s been hard, but who they are, what they enjoy, and what helps them feel safe. For families navigating disability, neurodivergence, or complex needs, I also take time to understand your full experience so care feels truly supportive and individualized. Early sessions focus on building comfort and trust. From there, we begin working toward meaningful changes, such as: Reducing anxiety or emotional overwhelm Improving school engagement or behavior Processing difficult experiences Building coping skills and confidence As therapy progresses, I adjust the approach based on your child’s needs and growth. Some sessions may be more active or creative, while others focus on deeper conversations. Throughout the process, I collaborate with parents so you have clear insight into progress and practical ways to support your child at home. The goal is simple: helping your child feel better, function better, and feel more like themselves again.
