Getting to know Daniel Held

Hello, I'm Daniel Held. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from The Ohio State University in 1977, with postgraduate studies in Structural/Strategic Family Therapy, Narrative Psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Addictions, and Gerontology. With forty-one years of clinical practice, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse mix of clients representing all races, religions, genders, and levels of problem severity. Additionally, I hold a Master of Divinity degree from United Theological Seminary, obtained in 2002, and have thirteen years of experience in pastoral care ministry. My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and a genuine commitment to your well-being. I believe in creating a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. I specialize in addressing anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, family relationships, grief/bereavement, life transitions, military/veteran support, multicultural/diversity issues, PTSD, spirituality, stress, suicidal ideation/self-harming, and trauma. Whether through in-person sessions or SonderMind Video Telehealth, I am dedicated to providing the care and support you need. Clients often describe me as a great listener who is both encouraging and challenging. One client shared, 'Rev. Held provides a beautiful balance of encouragement and challenge of growth. He is available and present. He listens and shows genuine care for me, my struggles, and mental health.' Another client mentioned, 'He understands me in a very short time and has been extremely helpful.' These testimonials reflect my commitment to being present and genuinely caring for each individual's mental health journey. Outside of my professional life, I value spirituality and the profound impact it can have on one's mental health. My background in pastoral care ministry allows me to integrate spiritual perspectives into therapy for those who find it meaningful. If you're ready to take the next step in your mental health journey, I invite you to reach out. Let's work together to navigate life's challenges and find a path to healing and growth.
