Getting to know Danielle McGowan

My name is Danielle McGowan, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Vanguard University. I have experience working with young adults, individuals, and families facing crisis, trauma, or a desire for change. I specialize in adjustment, trauma, grief, anxiety, and understanding behavior patterns shaped by childhood and family systems. Suicidal ideation, depression, life changes, and chronic mental health diagnoses are also areas of my expertise. My most common practices include cognitive behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and grief work. I also appreciate using psychodynamic and family systems therapies to help clients understand their ingrained perceptions of the world based on past experiences. I am comfortable working with various levels of trauma and life experiences. I also work with first responders, health and wellness professionals, educators, veterans, students, parents, grandparents, and those navigating unexpected life changes. I provide an easy-to-engage, down-to-earth, and client-led environment where discussions proceed at a pace comfortable for each client. I offer telepsych sessions only, allowing for convenient access to care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients will have a warm welcome and be able to engage at a comfortable level. A brief background and history will be gathered with goals or possible treatment opportunities discussed as they are mentioned. Throughout the first session, goals are set, which are made through cooperation with the client based on their needs.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

If I could rate Danielle 100/10 I would. She is helping me change my life for the better and I couldn't be more grateful.
I could check all these boxes. She’s knowledgeable and gracious and it’s already making a big impact.
She is easy to talk to. Her faith makes me feel understood. I enjoy our sessions immensely.
warm, good listener, empowering feedback, sensitive & sensible

Danielle quickly recognized which therapy style would work best for me and we hit the ground running at every session. She provides feedback, challenges me when necessary, and clarifies confusing topics with analogies, drawings, or anecdotes. I have undoubtedly become a more confident, happier, more emotional (in a good way) individual since working with her. I recommend Danielle to anyone looking for a therapist. 10/10
Listens, by hearing me out. Then we break down issues and look at them in the moment and past. Like a magnifying glass. Then I feel empowered to look differently through my “lens”. Look at myself wholly and then move to a plan or things to look for in myself. I feel she listens and I can talk out a plan better. It’s like I am able to but feelings to words and able to express myself to myself w her. She listens w out judging me. It’s very freeing and I feel safe. Plus she’s a cool cat. :)
After so many years of struggle, Danielle was the first therapist to pinpoint a diagnosis that now gives me the understanding and framework on how to improve my relationships and accept myself for who I am. I am so grateful for her knowledge and care.
