Danielle Norman, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi, my name is Danielle Norman. I hold a PsyD in Marital and Family Therapy from the Chicago School and am licensed in Marriage and Family Therapy. My specialties include childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, attachment, and parent-child relationships. My approach Although I consider myself an eclectic therapist using various therapeutic approaches, I rely heavily on cognitive behavioral and attachment theories. My focus Currently, my practice focuses on adults and adolescents. Clients may present with issues such as difficulty in relationships, feeling stuck, low and anxious mood, trouble coping with stressors, irritability, and sleep problems. My communication style It is a priority that our sessions feel conversational. Starting and continuing therapy can feel serious—and often is—however, the process does not always need to be. My goal is for clients to feel heard and seen while creating a safe place to challenge themselves to grow into the person they want to be. My journey to mental healthcare My introduction to mental health began with an internship in 2009, where I was introduced to Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). It affirmed that early childhood experiences greatly impact your trajectory. I have seen how small shifts can have lasting positive effects. It’s the small changes that make the biggest differences, and I hope to inspire others to make those positive shifts. My goals for you After the initial assessment, we will discuss what brought you to therapy and what you hope to accomplish, both short- and long-term. As therapy progresses, goals often change and may need re-evaluation; this will be a collaborative process. My first session with you The first session can feel somewhat “clinical.”
