Hi there, I'm Darsha! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and Virginia. I have been practicing in the mental health field for over 25 years. I would love the opportunity to work with you to help you learn practical strategies to meet your goals and I will celebrate with you as you become the person you desire to become. My approach I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which has an emphasis on exploring how thoughts, behaviors, and emotions “interact” with each other. I can help you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking, which is often referred to as Cognitive Distortions. By doing this you will be able to view difficult situations differently and therefore respond and react more effectively. Let’s be honest all of us have reacted based on our thoughts and feelings, and the outcome was not favorable. I’ll help you gain insight into your actions, by processing your thoughts and feelings. Let’s build your Mental Health Toolbox together. We will work together to identify concrete, realistic strategies to utilize to help reach your goals. My focus Therapy is hard but We Can Do Hard Things! Therapy is work and that’s what we do in sessions. I love working with clients who show up to do the work and are committed to continuing the work outside of sessions. None of us give 100% all the time and I don’t expect that from anyone, but we can show up. Habits and thought patterns didn’t happen overnight and keeping that in mind, in therapy we focus on progress, not perfection. Change takes time and effort, if you are willing to work, I’ll be right there with you. My communication style I communicate directly and easily. I want clients to be comfortable and not second-guess what I am saying. I welcome questions and interactive, engaging communication. You are the expert on you, and I’m the expert in mental health. Both of us are needed to go along this therapy journey.
