Getting to know David Alan Bonfanti

Hi there, I'm David! Hi, my name is David Bonfanti, LMFT. I enjoy getting to know my clients and hearing them share their stories. I've found that being a better listener is more effective than having something to say. I certainly do have things to say, but it really helps to hear a client's perspective of the problem(s) they are experiencing or have suffered with. I invite and guide others to decide the best course of action for their lives. My approach CBT, Strength-based, Solution-Focused, Psychodynamic. I want to help others improve how they say what they say. We cannot change the past, but we can make today count, as "it is never too late to be what you might have been." (Mary Ann Evans, AKA George Eliot). My focus I prefer to work with anyone who is willing to do the work needed to effect the change they seek. I enjoy couples therapy, working with older populations, and those who need to manage chronic medical conditions. I prefer to work with adults aged 30 and above. My communication style Above all else, I employ non-judgmental acceptance. I try to create a warm environment for others to feel secure in order to do the work needed to effect change. My journey to therapy I needed to go to therapy in order to change and understand some things in my life. Therapy was part of that process, and it changed my life for the better. My therapist once said to me, "David, you can't give what you don't have." So I then thought, "I had better have more." In addition, therapy was mandated by the state of California at the time for those seeking a psychotherapist license. I really worked hard in therapy. Being able to change is such a gift. My education I earned my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, which has deeply informed my approach and commitment to helping others. My goals for you Change is difficult; internal change is normally a process rather than a one-time event. I think it best to set realistic and obtainable goals.
