David Cayton, LPCC

Psychotherapist
CA
Aloha! My name is David Cayton, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) born and residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. I enjoy working with clients from all communities throughout California via teletherapy. I specialize in anxiety, depression, mood disorders, adjustment issues, and stress among teens, college-aged youth, and other adults. I use Cognitive-Behavioral, Humanistic, and Reality therapies to assist you in making positive changes to feel emotionally stronger and happier. I hold a Master’s degree in School Counseling and Guidance Services from the University of Hawai‘i, Manoa. My approach I passionately believe therapy should never be a cookie-cutter process; it must be tailored to each client's unique situations, needs, and strengths to be effective. I view the therapeutic relationship as a teamwork approach where you are the expert on yourself, and together we develop and work toward your treatment goals. The orientations I use most—Cognitive-Behavioral, Humanistic, and Reality therapies—allow me to authentically listen to and unconditionally appreciate you, gain perspective on how you structure and view your reality, and shed light on how your decisions impact your life choices. My focus In my clinical experience, my therapeutic approach best fits teens, young adults, and other adults into older adulthood who are navigating major life transitions, struggling with unhelpful or negative thoughts, difficult or complicated feelings, or everyday stressors affecting their quality of life. These challenges may lead to anxiety, depression, feeling overwhelmed or unable to cope, school or employment issues, family conflicts, relationship concerns, financial problems, loneliness, emptiness, and health conditions. I am here to support you through these experiences toward greater emotional well-being.
