Getting to know David Ellner

Hi there, I'm David! Hello, my name is David, I have worked in the mental healthcare environment for over 20 years and have been a licensed professional clinician since 2013. I help clients make positive emotional progress. My ultimate objective is to assist you to be successful in whatever situation you may encounter. I am personally devoted to delivering the best professional care possible. Through a secure-video format, I offer traditional, high-quality therapy services to treat a variety of stressful and challenging conditions. My approach I am trained to use a variety of approaches that are client-centered and designed to assist with the spiritual, emotional, and psychological aspects of the individual. Finding holistic well-being and daily balance is critical. My top modalities include Eclectic and Psychodynamic approaches, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness/Meditation. My focus Over the years, I have enjoyed working with young adults, veterans, individuals diagnosed with severe psychiatric disorders, older adults, and adults struggling with substance abuse disorders. I have also successfully worked to help stabilize and house those suffering from homelessness. My communication style When communicating with you I am calm, non-judgmental, and accepting of whatever you might be going through. I focus on listening to you, knowing it is not about me, and that you are the one in the therapy session that matters. I gently push in areas you allow me to push, and ultimately help you decide for yourself how and where you want to go. My journey to therapy I am naturally empathic and have always enjoyed working with others. This brought me to the doors of academia early in life. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Pitzer College. I received a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from San Diego State University and another master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California.

David has been an incredible therapist and very easy to talk to. After struggling to connect with other therapists in the past, I was hesitant to trust a new provider. From our very first session, David truly listened and provided thoughtful, insightful feedback that has made a real difference in my life. With each session, I feel like I'm making progress and moving in the right direction. I'm grateful to have found someone with his experience and compassion, and I highly recommend him.
David has helped me hold myself accountable over the past 2 and a half years. He’s helped me to remind myself to use comping strategies when my anxieties start to develop and spiral. He’s helped me figure out how to manage my ADHD so I can succeed in college for the first time in my 30’s.
I reached out to David due to the frustration I had been having for years. He has helped me with techniques and answers that have brought great peace where there had been frustration and dismay. I feel as though David has been able to quickly understand where my frustration lies and through his patience, I've been able to express some of the darker thoughts that crowded the inner light I would like to walk in. David has been excellent and I'd highly recommend him to anyone with similar issues.
