David Gudino, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Latinx male therapist who grew up in Pacoima, CA, and one of my passions has been to help the community. If that's something that can be done one person at a time, then we know we're making a difference. My approach in therapy is to listen, be empathic, and provide helpful tools that can significantly reduce patients' or client's symptoms. I am trained in multiple therapeutic modalities that include TF-CBT, CBT, Seeking Safety, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Managing and Adapting Practices, and experience implementing behavioral therapy with children who suffer from developmental disabilities. It's comforting to work with someone who is open to working on changes and improving their daily lives by implementing the techniques offered in psychotherapy. My communication style is primarily providing feedback to a patient and encouraging the patient to implement the techniques offered in sessions. It was a tough one. I went to three graduate schools within 5 years to get a degree in MSW I grew up in Pacoima, which wasn't easy, and got school loans to get through school, but I did it. Eventually, I got my hours working with children and adolescents while working a full-time job and working for a private practice. For the past 12 years, I have worked with all ages from as young as 3 years old to 97 years old being my eldest, have worked multiple diagnoses, provided mental health services in the community, helped the homeless, helped families, children, and conducted individual psychotherapy and worked in Skid Row for over 3 years during the pandemic. The goal setting with clients primarily consists of what the person wants to work on and how we can realistically improve the person's well-being. I will ask a lot of questions to get a good amount of information to potentially identify a diagnosis, which gives me the space to identify effective techniques to significantly reduce the patient's symptoms.
