Getting to know David Leong

My name is David Leong, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from California State University, Northridge. I specialize in the treatment of males/men in mental health. I have experience working with a variety of issues related to self-esteem, motivation, depression, anxiety, and addiction. I ALWAYS use a strength-based approach to encourage my clients not only to reach their goals but to strive to live their best and most fulfilling lives! My approach I utilize common techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. I also like to explore the whole environment and setting the client is in and how that affects the presenting problem. I usually avoid giving "unsolicited advice" (except when blatantly asked) and prefer to work collaboratively with my clients on treatment goals. My focus The clients I typically work with range from 12 to 35 years old. I specialize in working with students facing issues with self-esteem and confidence, as well as those struggling with gambling addiction. My communication style I create a positive, non-judgmental environment. I want my clients to feel excited to come to therapy rather than see it as a "chore." I aim to make your experience relaxed and comfortable, allowing us to gradually open up to deeper, more meaningful work-at your own pace. I enjoy creating a positive experience for kids, adolescents, and young adults, many of whom are participating in therapy for the first time. If we are not a good fit, no hard feelings-just let me know! My journey to therapy I became a therapist because of my own journey and struggles with mental health. I want to help and support people while encouraging my clients to be independent and achieve their goals. I want people to live their best lives! My goals for you I like to collaboratively form goals with my clients based on their needs and wants. I hate giving unsolicited advice.
