Getting to know David Sparks

Hi there, I'm David! My name is David Sparks and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Certified Brainspotter based in Antioch, CA, working with clients state wide via telehealth. I primarily work with adults and adolescents, and specialize in anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, and addiction. I have an integrated approach, often utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy and brainspotting to reduce symptoms and improve wellness. My approach I employ an integrated therapeutic approach, basing the modality I use on the needs of the client. I have a humanistic foundation and employ primarily cognitive behavioral therapy and brain-spotting modalities. This method allows me to better understand the needs of the individual, identify where growth can happen, and work together to implement productive change. My focus My approach permits individualized pacing that works well with adults and adolescents facing a range of challenges. Whether it's navigating anxiety, coping with stress, managing depression, processing trauma, overcoming addiction or living with someone in addiction, I will provide a personalized support and treatment targeting effective coping skills and healing deep hurt. My communication style My communication style is characterized by calmness, empathy, and authenticity. My goal is to create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can freely express themselves and explore their thoughts and emotions from a place of compassion. My journey to mental healthcare Starting as a young adult, important people in my life have identified that I'd make a good therapist because of my kindness and ability to listen. I've always enjoyed making people smile, being a trusted friend, and hearing someone's story. This is coupled with my interest in the brain and cognition, leading to specialized education and training. My goals for you Therapy will start with building trust in the therapeutic relationship so I can better understand the client.
