David Wayte, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the California Family Study Center and a Bachelor’s degree from Antioch College. My approach is person-centered, and I am here to work with you to meet your goals. I believe that you have the answers within yourself and that in our work together we will discover the path that is truly yours. I use a cognitive behavioral approach that emphasizes mindfulness practice to clarify the thinking patterns that might be impacting your life and to develop new outlooks that will allow you to unleash your potential. I also use person-centered practices in the belief that you are the underlying author of your own healing and growth. I am passionate about treating individuals who might be dealing with stress, anxiety, inner turmoil, or conflicts in their personal or professional lives. These challenges are often signs of emerging growth, and I am excited about helping people through this process. I aim to create a respectful and receptive environment for you to feel comfortable expressing your thoughts and feelings and to explore your inner promptings. This working environment is focused and attentive. I like to ask clarifying questions to encourage you to look deeper. During my long career in the helping professions, which includes teaching, social work, and leadership positions, I have always held the therapist role as central to my calling. It energizes me to practice deep listening and intuition to help people find their paths forward. I believe that it is important to set goals at the outset of therapy and to continue to refocus and refine these goals during the course of treatment. The goals are helpful for providing direction but are not the end result of our work together. The purpose of our initial session is to get to know each other and to make an outline of our work together.
