Dawn Amram, LICSW

Psychotherapist
MA
I pride myself and creating an environment where everyone can be their authentic self, feel safe to express their thoughts, and be their guide in navigating challenging times in their lives. I specialize in working with both individuals and couples. I take an approach focused on healthy communication and attachment-based therapy. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, in working with individuals and symptoms of anxiety and stress. I now specialize in Adult and Couples work surrounding major life stressors and transitions, and am an LGBTQ+ Ally. I have an interactive and direct approach to communication with clients, asking open-ended questions and providing a general warmth. I am a kind, empathetic person who takes an active role in listening to others and providing guiding feedback. I received my Master's in Advanced Clinical Social Work at Columbia University in New York and worked with families and individuals at the Yale Child Study Center in New Haven, CT. I assist client in rediscovery their own internal potential, identifying barriers to their goals and ideal lives. In a first session, we would review reasons for seeking care, gather information and history regarding the client's experiences, and talk about the client's needs and expectations for care.
