Getting to know Dawn Leatherman-Kulis

I work with clients experiencing relationship challenges, interpersonal difficulties, marriage conflicts, and individuals coping with stress, depression, and anxiety. Clients need space to be heard, feel validated, and be challenged in a safe environment. My goals are to help clients find internal resources that bring peace with their own challenges and improve their relationships with others. Couples’ work focuses on increasing satisfaction, identifying personal needs, and learning to communicate those needs to your partner. By fostering positive responses in your relationship, you can develop more commonality and shared goals, leading to positive outcomes. Often, people get stuck in a rut and need support to navigate their way back to a positive relationship with themselves and others. I am trained in marriage, family, and trauma therapy, a Certified Family Trauma Professional, and an EMDR-trained clinician. I have experience working with aging adults, end-of-life issues, and grief. I work with couples and individuals facing relationship issues and life stressors. I hold a Master’s in Counseling from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. If you are experiencing challenges in your love life, difficulty with day-to-day functioning, or work/life stressors, call me to schedule an assessment so we can build a plan that best supports you and your family.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am compassionate, empathetic, and feel it’s important to build a trusting relationship with my clients. I find myself being direct and providing a lot of feedback and will ask questions that prompt thinking.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

She wasn't just hearing but listening to what I need to say and understand what is happening with the client. Felt really good after the therapy.
Dawn is an incredible human being and somehow an even more incredible therapist. She's the first therapist I've seen, in my 15 years in and out of therapy, that I felt it was sincerely worth pursuing a professional relationship with and I hope that speaks for itself.
