Dawn Morris, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Dawn! My name is Dawn, and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist based in Sacramento, California. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Sacramento. I have been a therapist for children, teens, and families for 10 years. I consider it a privilege to earn my clients' trust and walk with them through difficult thoughts and emotions. It's an honor to meet clients where they are and provide them with insight and tools that lead toward growth, healing, and hope. My approach My approach is client-centered and varies depending on my clients' needs, age, development, and cultural background. I use strength-based, trauma-informed approaches in all sessions. I tend to utilize cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, trauma-focused, and attachment-informed approaches. With children and teens, I often integrate music, art, and play. I also use additional modalities as needed. My focus Most of my experience is working with children, teens, and families who have experienced trauma. Clients I've worked with commonly deal with PTSD, anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, low self-esteem, relationship challenges due to early attachment issues, excessive anger, and grief. My communication style I am genuine, gentle, and honest. Some clients come to therapy open and ready to share; others are more guarded and hesitant to trust. Some are ready to talk about their trauma, while others need time. I provide the grace and space to let clients move at their own pace. Sometimes clients need me to listen and be still; sometimes they need a little nudge to move forward; sometimes they need something direct. I have learned how to discern when clients need these different responses. My journey to mental healthcare I was born very empathic and have always had a huge heart for people who are emotionally struggling. My goal is to provide comprehensive, compassionate care tailored to each individual's unique needs.
