Getting to know Deanna Carvalho

I’ve always been driven by the desire to create a life of authenticity, freedom and joy, and to help others do the same. I find myself being endlessly curious about what it actually looks like to live a more whole-hearted and empowered life.There is no greater joy for me, than seeing the light in someone’s eyes as they discover who they are beyond their pain and fears and begin to create a life they desire and deserve! My therapeutic approach is based upon the belief that each of us carries within, the seed of greatness and the wisdom and tools to nourish it. I believe that YOU have a unique and vital gift to offer the world, just by being fully you. Our work together facilitates the emergence of that authentic, whole SELF. I utilize a direct and compassionate approach with clients and draw from my background in family systems, depth psychology, somatic therapies and evidence based practices to provide a holistic container for the work we do together. I earned my undergrad degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and later a Master’s degree in International Counseling Psychology from Alliant International University in Mexico City, Mexico. During my time in Mexico, I had the privilege of working with clients from indigenous communities, immigrant and refugee populations, LGBTI communities, bi-cultural couples, and expatriate communities. Since returning to Charlotte and becoming a fully licensed psychotherapist (LMFT), I work with individuals, couples and adolescents from a diversity of backgrounds. I’m beyond grateful for each opportunity, and feel privileged to provide support in any way that I can.

I specialize in working with individuals who want to live a more authentic, empowered and liberated life. If you want to overcome self-doubt, establish and maintain healthy boundaries, develop secure relationships, increase energy and motivation, and generally feel more comfortable in your own skin, I’d love to work with you. We will explore what is keeping you stuck and implement practices that will help you move forward. Our work together, will help you become more fully yourself. This means realigning with your values, an increase in energy, healthy boundaries, clarity about purpose & goals, and reviving your sense of self and worth.
